5 Million Minus 1

Our friend JT and Natalie have been admiring pictures of their little Tedi for months. Guess what? Now they have pictures of Tedi and his daddy together!! JT is in Ethiopia as we speak along with two other Arise families. I am so excited!! I feel like I check my email and Natalie's blog all day long for updates! :) (and I cry every time I read about it or talk to her!) Head on over to her blog, 5 Million Minus 1, to read about JT's trip and see pictures.

This weekend is going to be the ultimate airport weekend! The Henderson's fly in on Saturday and our friends the T Family are arriving home from Kazakhstan with THREE daughters on Sunday. :) Funny story: daddy told the girls that the entire city would be celebrating their arrival with fireworks. :)

Splish Splash

I told you how much the kids loved our recent trip to the pool. Dawit continues to be brave and fearless...dunking his face in the water every chance he gets! Here are some pictures of our fun time!
My little fish!

Uncle Tim had all the kids doing tricks. Dawit LOVED when Tim threw him up in the air.

Avery and Gracie took turns going down the slide.

Gracie "jumped" off the edge. (really she squatted as low as she could and stepped off the edge.)

Gracie was being silly.

The kids are looking forward to their next trip to the pool. I am trying to convince Tim and Lin to just get a pool. :)

3 Year Checkup

Today Avery went in for her three year checkup. She is finally on the chart!! :)

Our big girl weighs a whopping 25 pounds! (5th percentile)

** That is only 5 pounds more than little brother and one pound less than her two year old cousin, Reese! :)

She is 34 1/4 inches tall. (10th percentile)

She was very good while getting her blood pressure taken. To be expected, she screamed while getting a shot. All was forgotten when they gave her a popsicle though!!

Conversations about Disney World

Gracie always talks about going to Disney World. So, the following conversation last night was not unusual....until the end of it!

Gracie: I want to go to Disney World.

James: Well, we will when you guys get a little older. But, you know you will see Mickey Mouse and Cinderella all dressed up.

(side note: Gracie is scared to death of any dressed up character. She screams at Buddy Bat, the Cardinal Bird, etc.)

Gracie: What?

James: Yeah, there will be people dressed up as Cinderella, Goofy, and you will see all the other princesses. But you know it is just people under the costumes. There aren't really 7 foot mice.

(long pause)

Gracie: Can we just go to Holiday World?

:) She makes me laugh!

We Love Sidewalk Chalk

My girls love sidewalk chalk. Today our neighbor, Carol, gave the girls a huge pack of chalk. It was sweet of her to think of them! So, after dinner we made her a thank you note on her sidewalk! :)

Dawit even joined in and made a few scribbles.

Grace and Olivia each drew pictures of Carol!

Dawit had chalk all over him. Mostly this was his own doing...

Though Avery did help a little...

Too Funny!! I think it tickled....he was cracking up!

Tonight we have Olivia with us for a sleepover! Fun times!

Keeping Cool

It is so stinkin hot these days! We have been trying to stay cool. The kids have been enjoying the slip n slide and the pool. We have a little blow up pool, but the girls prefer to play in our neighbors. :) When we celebrated our birthday's last week, the girls had a TON of fun in the slip n slide. I couldn't stop laughing at them!

Gracie was the first one down. She likes to put on a show!

Avery wouldn't actually SLIDE down. She just walked down it and still had a grand time! Once she did SLIP and fall. I don't know how I got a picture of that moment, but I am glad I did. :)

Reese didn't really like the water so she watched the action with Uncle Tim.

Dawit didn't really like it either. Unless is feels like bath water, he won't play.

He did enjoy hanging out with Papa though. Are they cute, or what?

Last week we also got to hang out at Tim's aunt's pool. Again, they had so much fun. I am definitely going to have to put all three of them in swim lessons. The girls got brave after a little prompting (pushing??!!) and they even went down the slide! Dawit surprised us most though. He was not happy in a float, oh no. He wanted to actually be in the water. Like UNDER it! He was happiest when we pushed him back and forth and loved to go under! He would scream really loud and reach for Tim if I wouldn't let him have his way! :) Lin took some pictures and I can't wait to see them. I will post some when I get them. I hope she got a picture of Dawit "swimming". :)

Stay cool!

Cute Adoption Tees and Giveaway

I have several adoption shirts. I wear them A LOT! Sometimes I have to think, "OK, did I wear this already this week?" :) I love the message they send. I also love it when I wear them and strangers ask about our adoption!

Visit Tricia's Blog and check out their nice selection of shirts. (mens and ladies) They even have hats!
They are bringing home a sibling set and are fundraising to help out with the costs.

One of her friends at Junk Posse is even giving a few away!

Happy Birthday Avery!!

Today our sweet baby girl turns THREE!! I can't even believe it!

We celebrated with some Mc Donald's and went to Aunt Linny's to play. Our cousins were there to play also. I took over some cupcakes for the kiddos and everyone sang to her. She loved it.

We also celebrated on Sunday with family. We had lunch and then watched the kids play in the Slip n Slide. (Lots of laughs there!) For some reason blogger is having problems posting my pictures, so I will post some of the slip n slide fun later.

Keeping with my trend....

Happy Birthday Reese

Today we celebrated another birthday. (It is a very busy week with birthday's in our family!)

Happy 2nd Birthday Reese!!

She tried and tried to blow out her candle but just couldn't do it. Guess who did? Avery. Tim had to light it again. :)

Reese had fun opening her gifts. We got her a stroller and carrier for her babies. Here she is looking for the baby bottles that were still in the gift bag. :)
Too Cute!

Here is our attempt at a group photo of all the cousins....impossible....

Sweet little Ellie helped us celebrate.

Tomorrow my grandma celebrates her birthday and Avery's is next week. That equals A LOT of cake! More birthday photos to come...

15 Month Check-Up

Today I took Dawit for his 15 month check up. I am excited to announce that he is finally on the chart! He weighs 20 pounds 4 ounces which puts him in the 5th percentile! BIG BOY! His height is 28 inches and his head is 17 1/2. Both of those are still not on the chart, but he is on his way! Unfortunately, he still has an ear infection, so he will probably need tubes. Another surgery...poor guy.

I am going to share a story about something that happened at the dr.'s office today. I personally didn't laugh, but everyone else does when I tell them. :)

As we were in the middle of the appointment, the nurse came in and asked if I drove a silver mini van. Yes...She told me the alarm was blaring and the back door and trunk were open. WHAT?? I grabbed my purse and ran outside IN THE POURING RAIN. Well, my keys weren't in my purse. I quickly shut the doors and ran back inside. I remembered that I had put my keys in my pocket. They weren't there either. While all this is happening the girls are laughing, the car alarm is blaring, and I am dripping. Everyone in the office was standing in the waiting room watching me. I couldn't imagine where my keys were. Then Grace said, "Look at Avery." She was holding my key over her head laughing. She had taken them out of my pocket during the appointment and started pushing buttons. She had opened all the doors and pushed the panic button.

I really do think everyone looks at me and thinks....Look at that crazy woman! She has her hands full.

Actually most people SAY it and don't just think it! :) I wish I had a dollar for everyone who has told me that. (the "hands full" part, not the "crazy" part)

Happy Birthday to Me!

So today is my birthday. We celebrated a little on Saturday when I got my present.....which I am typing on right now!! James and the kids got me a lap top. I LOVE it! Then, on Sunday they made me a chocolate cake with chocolate icing. YUM! The girls had lots of fun making the cake and especially liked licking the spoon after they put the icing on. :)

Of course, you know that my eater LOVED his cake!

Here is what he did when James walked away to get another piece of cake! Dawit was so upset that his cake was gone. I was cracking up!

Today I had plans for lunch, but had to put those on hold. Avery came down with a fever yesterday afternoon. :( No partying for us today. Thankfully, she did not have one when she went to bed tonight. (Hoping it doesn't come back!)

Another year passes. I can't believe it! These guys keep me young, I guess. I have to keep up with them! :)

Thanks for all your calls and birthday wishes!

First Steps

Dawit took his first steps a few days ago. Every time I tried to video it, he would see my camera and get distracted. I was sneaky Sunday morning and caught him walking with James and Grace. I am so excited that we get to see all these milestones! Our boy is getting SO BIG!

Dance Recital

Today Gracie had her dance recital. This time, her class performed 2 dances. This equaled stress for this momma! 2 dances= 2 outfits= 2 hair do's.... Plus I thought it would be a fine idea to take both younger kids along. Turned out to not be a fine idea! Thankfully we had family with us to help. (Another lesson learned.) Gracie did SO good. She absolutely loves dance and it showed today! Here are some pictures we had taken. Isn't her class cute?? They danced to Hoe Down Throw Down by Hannah Montana. Gracie loved this one. I took a video at the rehearsal.
They also did a ballet routine to One Day My Prince Will Come. SO sweet!

This summer her dance studio has short, recreation classes. I think she is going to try hip hop! FUN! Then in August she will start tap and jazz. I guess it is safe to say she isn't going to follow in my footsteps and be a ball player! :)

A Cutie Patutie

Okay, so that might not be how to spell Patutie....you get my drift though!

I can't believe Lindsay birthed an 8 pounder!! She looked too tiny to have an 8 pound baby in there!

Ellie with her favorite Aunt!

I took Avery over tonight to meet her new cousin!

One more blessing, that's for sure!
