We are so excited to let everyone know that we got a referral today for a very sweet little boy. His name is Dawit and he is almost 3 months old. Can you believe this?? The director from Arise called yesterday afternoon while I was at school, luckily it was on my planning period so I could talk otherwise my students would have gotten an ear full! She told me what little info she had. James and I were very excited. We decided to wait to share the news until we met with the director. Both of us failed at this and told a few people....okay I told more people than he did, but that's okay. Without seeing his picture we decided that he was ours. We said from the beginning that God already had a special child picked out for our family. We knew that Dawit was meant to be an Armstrong!

I had to work today, so we were not able to go to the Arise office until this afternoon. That made for a very long day. Both of us were very anxious! When we were shown his picture, all we saw were his HUGE, dark eyes. He is beautiful. We did get one picture, however we aren't allowed to post any pictures online. Sorry. I can't wait to see all of you to show him off. We photocopied the picture and I had it laminated because G wanted to carry it around. At dinner tonight she propped his picture up in front of her. Too cute. Here is some video from when we showed the girls his picture.

So, for all of you prayer warriors out there...Please pray for our little Dawit and pray that we would get a court date soon. We are hopeful for a court date this summer. The courts close for part of August and September because of rain. We really want to get in before that. I can't believe that I am writing about our boy...our boy!! We actually know who he is! Honestly I didn't think we would get a child this young, or this quickly. I am just blown away.

Thank you God for Dawit. He is such a sweet little thing!

Journey to Ethiopia

Today my sweet friend Kory brought us over a gift. She told me a few weeks ago that she ordered a gift for the girls and our little guy on the way. She was so excited, but wouldn't tell me anything about it. Well, it arrived at her house this afternoon and she couldn't wait and came over immediately. :) is a book titled Journey to Ethiopia with Captain Addis and Hanna. I read it to the girls tonight at bedtime. It was cute and G really liked it. It talk about the beauty of Ethiopia, the alphabet, unique calendar, the Nile River, different holidays and traditions. It was really sweet. I will bring it to our upcoming meetings for all you Ethiopian Mommas to look at! I am blessed to have such great friends! So many of you are offering up prayers and love our kiddos as much as we do! Thanks!

Bits and Pieces

So, I have been a mom to three since last Tuesday. My sis and her hubby went on a cruise and left thier 11 month old with us. R is a great baby..thankfully. :) The girls had so much fun with her. A never woke up from a nap without asking where R was. Too cute. I also had my sis bring all the outfits that the girls have matching. Most days I had all three dressed alike. I could just eat them up! I must admit, it wasn't a breeze. Her schedule looks nothing like ours. My kiddos take naps that last hours (at least A does). I was lucky if R slept for 45 minutes! I laid her down for the last time tonight...her mom and dad will be here soon. My girls are going to cry when she isn't here in the morning! So, my swing at three went pretty well!

Another exciting tibit...I only have 4 more days of work until summer vacation! YEAH!! The students last day isn't until next Wednesday, but remember...I only work part time. I try not to say this at school. The other teachers get mad!! :) No big plans for the summer. James says I have to get a job. I guess you could say we have some big things coming up, huh?

One more fun thing. We signed up for a farmers market thing this summer. I am sure there is a better name for it, I just can't think of it right now. Anyway, each week we get 3/4 bushel of fruits and veggies from local, organic farmers. It will be a surprise each week as to what we get. This Wednesday will be our first week. I can't wait! I hope we get asparagus and lettuce. I am sure this will get me to find recipies for things I have never cooked before. I will let you know!

Adoption Sermon

A few weeks ago Dr. Russell Moore gave a sermon on adoption. It was a great message about Christians being adopted into God's family and our call to minister to the orphans. It is about 30 min. and is definitely worth watching. Be careful though, many families followed God's call to adoption after hearing this message!!

Happy Mother's Day

I have so many great ladies in my life! We spent the day with most of them (missed you granny!) G went around telling everyone, "Happy Mother's Day!"...even the guys. A was very proud of the flower she gave me that she got from the nursery at church. James and the girls also gave me a gift certificate to get my nails done. (can't wait to do that!) We had a great day spending time with our moms and grandmas. We love you all!

Just the facts

So...On Tuesday James and I went to our monthly fellowship with other families adopting with Arise. I spoke with Susan, the director, about our timeline and the children. She told me that our wait until referral would not be as long as originally expected. (9-12 months) YEAH! She also told me that there is paperwork sitting on her desk for children, but she can't say anything because the children's paperwork in Ethiopia is not complete. My ears heard, "Brittney, your child's picture is on my desk."

Those are the facts. I have heard some rumors too. Which make me excited, probably for no reason. So let's just stick to the facts.

Wouldn't it be great to get a referral?! To be able to match a face with the child that I pray for everyday!

More good news. Avery and I went to the airport tonight to welcome Louisville's newest Ethiopian brothers home. It was so sweet! They had a huge crowd. I am looking forward to hearing all about the trip.

AWANA Celebration

Last night was G's AWANA cermony at church. It was fun. G got her first year AWANA bear for her vest and a certificate. Her class was too shy to sing their song though. I am glad we started going on Wednesday nights. We have met some really great friends.

Poor A :)

USCIS Approval!!

Isn't it funny how God works? Just yesterday I made a comment on how our Immigration approval had not yet come.....IT CAME TODAY! Yeah! This paper is just government approval. The wording is so official..."favorable determination concerning application"... :)
Anyway, we needed this so that we can be matched with a child. We are one step closer.

A few days ago my father-in-law (who is a big tech guy) checked out my blog. Although he said I did a heck of a job...his words...he was a bit concerned that I included our names and other personal info. So, to keep the crazies away and make him happy I am not going to put our first names anymore. Just initials. Hopefully that is good enough. I am still going to write about our life because that is what this blog is for. To let people that I don't talk to everyday in on whats going on.

In adoption news, we are still waiting for our USCIS approval. I check the mail everyday. :) That is the next thing we can get excited about.
